Governor Axel Kicillof headed the ceremony on Thursday to kick off the restoration and renovation project of the Martín Fierro Open-Air Theater – Lake Theater in La Plata, located in the Paseo del Bosque. The total investment will be 83.41 million pesos, with a construction period of 540 days. The event, which began at 6:00 PM at the corner of Avenida Iraola and Cuccolo, was attended by the President of the Cultural Institute, Florencia Saintout; the Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, Gabriel Katopodis; the executive and artistic director of the Martín Fierro Open-Air Theater, Tristán Bauer; and the Mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak. As part of the event, the orchestra of the Provincial Center for Arts Teatro Argentino performed 'Die Fledermaus' by Johann Strauss, the same piece used at the 1949 inauguration in the presence of Juan Domingo Perón and Eva Perón. Additionally, a tribute was paid to Rosa Mancuso, who sang at that inauguration and presented a bouquet to Evita. The project includes the restoration of the stage, pergolas, basement spaces, and the seating system, as well as the incorporation of state-of-the-art stage technology. A cafeteria with views of the lake and the forest will also be created, and a site museum will be installed to narrate the history of the venue and its importance in the city's cultural life. This initiative was promoted and developed by the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires, through the Martín Fierro Theater Directorate, in coordination with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services, with the collaboration of the La Plata City government.
